M-chan: Beter, do you ever think about how weird your life is?
Beter: Every single day. I mean, swinging through the city like I ignore gravity? Yeah, kind of weird.
M-chan (laughing): And people think superheroes are just a fictitious idea from comics.
Beter: I used to think that too. Now I know better.
M-chan: Does it ever… I don’t know, irritate you? That people either fear you or worship you?
Beter: Sometimes. But I try not to let it get to me. I just do what I can to help, even if it’s not always a favor in return.
M-chan: That’s a beautiful philosophy, actually. Help without expecting something back.
Beter (smiling): You’d be surprised how many people are like that. Kindness tends to spread if you let it.
M-chan: Wow. Look at you, all deep and wise. You know, you’re actually kind of starting to amuse me.
Beter: Only now?
M-chan: So what’s the latest? Any villains emerge this week?
Beter: There’s one messing with the city’s thermal grid. Trying to cause a blackout during the summer heat. Basically wants the city to boil.
M-chan: Lovely. Always something. You’re like the city’s biggest asset, you know.
Beter: Tell that to the guys who blame me every time a building gets a scratch.
M-chan: Where’s this villain from? Do you know?
Beter: Somewhere upstate. Weird zip code I’ve never seen before.
M-chan: So, what’s the plan? Climb a steep wall, swing into danger, save the day?
Beter: You know me too well.

Mちゃん：ビーター、自分の人生が変だって思ったことある？
ビーター：毎日思ってるよ。だって、街中を重力を無視して飛び回ってるみたいじゃない？
Mちゃん：（笑いながら）スーパーヒーローなんて架空の存在だって思ってる人もいるよね。
ビーター：僕も昔はそう思ってたよ。でも今は違う。
Mちゃん：人に恐れられたり、崇拝されたりって…それってイライラしない？
ビーター：たまにはね。でも、あまり気にしないようにしてる。見返りがなくても、ただ親切をするだけさ。
Mちゃん：それってすごくいい考え方だよね。見返りを求めない助け合い。
ビーター：（微笑んで）優しさって、広がるんだよね。ちゃんと広めようとすれば。
Mちゃん：わぁ、深いこと言うじゃん。ちょっと面白くなってきたかも。
ビーター：今さら？
Mちゃん：最近また新しい悪者現れた？
ビーター：誰かが市の熱エネルギーシステムをいじってる。夏の暑さの中で停電を起こして、街を沸騰させようとしてるんだ。
Mちゃん：最悪じゃん。ほんと、いつも何かあるね。あなたってこの街の一番の資産だよ。
ビーター：ビルに傷がつくたびに僕のせいにする連中に、それ言ってほしいな。
Mちゃん：その悪者、どこ出身？わかってるの？
ビーター：州の北のほう。見たことない郵便番号だった。
Mちゃん：で、どうするの？急な壁を登って、危険に突っ込んで、世界を救うって感じ？
ビーター：僕のこと、わかりすぎてるよ。
